Welcome to the second part of the Follow My Development series, in this weeks post we are going to go over the latest updates of my D.A Approval, although the process is quiet slow it can be very difficult and confusing to understand so I hope to shed some light on it for you.
Council has given me a “Conditional Approval” with a few terms and conditions
The main issue we have had with this D.A is the location of a power pole in the crossover section of the driveway which has presented additional fees from Energex who say the only way it can be resolved is to put the power underground. As we had to have a little bit of a laugh at this one as there is no standard from Energex or Gold Coast City Council as to how far away a power pole needs to be? it could literally be 5mm.
As we have chosen to question this with council due to there being no standard for distance, we have compiled a case and currently awaiting an onsite meeting request that has been sent to council.
The next condition (a pretty standard one) is that of a telecommunication connection, because there is going to be two separate dwellings the telecommunications must be separately isolated to each property and signed off by the contractor or internet service provider.
With another half dozen conditions to the approval most of which are pretty straight forward and standard we are now into the phase where progress should really start to kick into gear and hopefully soon we can begin the build process.
Ill will be updating you soon with any changes so keep posted, until then happy building. Mick Berry
